Sanctuary update

A luxurious eight-hectare third enclosure has now been completed at the Sanctuary. This wonderfully lush expanse will become home to Abu’s family of eight chimps as soon as the new sleeping quarters have been constructed (please see our Appeal for funding).

Joao, Cozy, Zac and the babies will then be moved into Abu’s previous enclosure, leaving the so-called ‘baby camp’ free to accommodate the next intake of chimps.

The Sanctuary also now boasts an Education Centre and the Junglicious restaurant, both well worth a visit.  The former provides information on all aspects of chimpanzees and gives visitors a chance to view Animal Planet’s Escape to Chimp Eden.

The large restaurant’s patio area overlooks the baby camp, so you can enjoy a meal and the heart-warming antics of our youngest chimps at the same time.
